ICAR: Indian Council of Agricultural Research

The mandate of the Agricultural Engineering Division (www.icar.org.in/en/agricultural-engineering.htm) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) - an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of India - is to improve the sustainability and profitability of Indian agriculture through farm mechanization, value addition and energy management in production and post-harvest operations. Particular emphasis is placed on work efficiency and gender-friendly drudgery-free technologies. The division has developed several improved technologies such as: laser land leveler; self-propelled sprayers; precision seeders and planters; transplanters for rice and vegetable seedlings; multi-crop threshers; and harvesters for cereals and sugarcane. The Division will share its experience in appropriate mechanization with the project and may contribute to training and capacity-building in engineering, human resource development, entrepreneurship development and technology transfer.
